Gonzaga point guard Josh Perkins one of 10 finalists for Senior CLASS Award

Spokesman-Review - 2/7/2019

Feb. 06--Gonzaga's Josh Perkins has been selected as a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award.

The award is presented to a senior basketball player who excels in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. The CLASS acronym stands for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School.

Perkins completed his degree in Sport Management with a 3.24 GPA and posted a 3.6 pursuing his master's in Organizational Leadership.

Perkins was selected to the 2018 Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association's Scholar-Athlete team. He's a two-time WCC All-Academic Team selection and he's been on the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll the last three years.

Perkins has been involved with Habitat for Humanity building homes, visited veterans at the VA Hospital and served meals at the Union Gospel Mission. He has spent one day each summer at Camp Goodtimes, a camp for children diagnosed with cancer.

Perkins averages 10.9 points and 6.7 assists. He's shooting 38 percent on 3-pointers and 87 percent at the free-throw line. Earlier this week, he was named one of 10 finalists for the Bob Cousy Award, given to the nation's top point guard.
