Postage stamps will commemorate new Lewiston veterans memorial
Buffalo News - 10/30/2019
Oct. 30--A limited edition commemorative 55-cent stamp, featuring the new Lewiston Veterans of Foreign Wars Circle of Honor in Academy Park, has been issued by the U.S. Postal Service.
The memorial is to be dedicated on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
Only 400 stamps have been printed, and they're not available at post offices. Sixty stamps have been reserved for memorial sponsors and VFW members, and the other 340 stamps, 20 to a sheet, are being sold to raise funds to maintain the memorial. The price is $45 per sheet.
"We only have 17 sheets that will be available to the public and when they're gone, they're gone. No more will be made," said Vince Canosa, VFW quartermaster. He can be reached for orders at 343-4358.
The stamp depicts an image of the bronze bald eagle which stands above the center pillar of the memorial and the American flag that flies behind it. The stamp also includes the inscription, "Lewiston VFW Circle of Honor," and the date 2019.
