Veteran service officer scheduled to appear at Whitman County libraries

Mar. 13—Whitman County's veteran service officer will appear at libraries in the county in the coming weeks to provide information about Veterans Affairs programs.

Becky Buri is the county's veteran service officer, and she will assist veterans in obtaining benefits earned through their military service, according to a news release.

Buri is scheduled to appear at the La Crosse Library at noon Thursday; the Malden Library at 2 p.m.March 27; the Oakesdale Library at 1 p.m.April 10; the Albion Library at 12:30 p.m.April 17; and the Palouse Library at 11 a.m.April 25.

The topics covered will include navigating eligible benefits, claims and pension; health care eligibility and registration; vocational rehab, education, training and employment; burial and survivor; housing and transportation; military records; and representation at VA hearings.
