GNMH names new president and CEO

Nov. 28--NASHUA -- Greater Nashua Mental Health is pleased to announce that Cynthia Whitaker, PsyD, MLADC, has been named as the new president and Chief Executive Officer of Greater Nashua Mental Health. Speaking on behalf of the Board of Directors, Pamela Burns, Board Chair said, "We established a search committee made up of board members and staff. After meeting with several candidates, we are confident that hiring Dr. Whitaker for the position was the best decision for the continued success of the agency." Dr. Whitaker has been working as the Interim President and CEO of the agency since July of 2020. "It is a privilege and honor to have been chosen to serve as the leader of our agency. I am proud of the mission driven work being done here by our dedicated staff," stated Dr. Whitaker.

Dually licensed as both a psychologist and a master licensed alcohol and drug counselor, Dr. Whitaker holds a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University New England and received a Certificate in Primary Care Behavioral Health from the Center for Integrated Primary Care at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Whitaker is a strong advocate for social justice and has committed her career to the community mental health system. She has worked for Greater Nashua Mental Health since 2006. She formerly served as the Chief of Services, which involved overseeing the daily clinical operations of the agency. Dr. Whitaker also served as the Clinical Supervisor for the treatment component of the Southern Hillsborough County Drug Court. She began her career at GNMH as the Coordinator of Deaf Services for the State of New Hampshire, a program that is dedicated to improving the access and quality of mental health services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals in New Hampshire. In addition to her work at GNMH, Cynthia has been an adjunct faculty member at Rivier University and Antioch University New England where she taught doctoral level courses in Community Psychology, Developmental Psychology, a Professional Seminar, and an Advanced Seminar on Mindfulness. Dr. Whitaker is a certified XChange facilitator and is a highly sought out speaker and trainer about various topics related to mental health and substance use disorder services.

Greater Nashua Mental Health is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit community mental health center serving Southern Hillsborough County.
