Center for at-risk youth opens

High Point Enterprise - 1/8/2021

Jan. 8—HIGH POINT — Leaders of a new nonprofit to assist at-risk youth ages 9-12 will host a ribbon-cutting at 1 p.m. Saturday at 2203 Eastchester Drive, Suite 101.

Sarah Graham, founder and CEO, said she hopes Guilford County Commissioner Carlvena Foster and other community leaders will attend the official opening of the center, which was established Sept. 11, 2020.

"I think we are an important step for the community, because our community is hurting from crime, poverty and peer pressure," Graham said. "Our communities need to know that there is still hope and resources and people that care and are available to assist. Drawers of Hope Resource is here and will continue to help with the needs of our community."

Drawers of Hope will focus on communities and neighborhoods with high youth crime rates, gang-related activity and poverty.

"We will also focus on rebuilding and restoring lives by providing resources to the families with Christian principles," Graham said. "Our goal is to offer a free seven-week program to participants from the juvenile court system. We will serve as a first offender program for juveniles."

Drawers of Hope Resource Center is an all-inclusive program that will focus on efforts to decrease crime rates, poverty levels and build a firm foundation for successful living. The center intends to seek sponsorship to offer free services to participants.

Drawers of Hope Resource Center will provide training programs that focus on the following:

—Life skills

—Faith motivation

—Resolutions

—Confidence building

—Educational Goals/ Tutoring

—Career planning

—Family Involvement

—After-school care
