Southeast N.C. Veterans Day Parade coming soon to downtown Wilmington

Oct. 9—The Southeast North Carolina Veterans Day Parade will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, in downtown Wilmington. The parade will begin at Third and Hanover streets and ends at Third and Market.

JROTC units from four local high schools, New Hanover, Ashley, Hoggard and North Brunswick, will hold a competition at Riverfront Park before and during the parade. Trophies will be awarded after the parade.

The parade will be followed by a celebration and information fair at Riverfront Park (until 2 p.m.). All parade participants and observers are invited.

Festivities at the park will kick off around 11:30 a.m. The Clams, a local band, will perform at Live Oak Bank Pavilion. Food trucks on site will be Mission BBQ, P.T.'s Grille, Trolly Stop Grill & Catering, and Sunset Slush of Wilmington. The 208th Army Band will take center stage after the parade.

Any group or individual who would like to hand out materials must bring tables, displays, tents (no tent stakes) and weights. To participate, please email Si Cantwell at si.cantwell@gmail.com. If participating, please arrive at 11 a.m.Nov. 6 to begin setting up.

The celebration continues at the VFW Post 2573, located at 2722 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, from 3 p.m. until. A fundraiser for the VFW, entertainment includes Michael Patrick McDonald, The Flying Stronzos, Ronnie Lynch No Fun Allowed Band, Kenny Reeves and friends, and Mystic River. There will be food trucks on site and drinks will be available to purchase.
