Jul. 17—Senators plan Veterans Resource Fair at Ivy Tech Lake County

Veterans, active military members and their families will be able to get help with various resources available to them at a veterans event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday at Ivy Tech Community College Lake County, 9900 Connecticut Drive, Crown Point. The event, sponsored by the offices of U.S. Senators Mike Braun and Todd Young, will enable attendees to get individualized assistance navigating issues they may encounter with the Veterans Administration and/or Social Security Administration, as well as learn about resources available from various agencies. Groups represented will include the Veteran Health Administration, the Lake County Veteran Service Office, Operation: Job Ready Veterans and Ivy Tech Lake County's veteran services office, among others. Indiana American Water job opportunities for area residents

This is the second hiring for the Gary area since the company originally established this location for remote customer service jobs in September of last year. Indiana American Water has been the water services provider for most of Lake and Porter counties since 1999 and has been serving customers in Indiana for more than 135 years. Service helps adults earn their high school diplomas

Merrillville Adult Education (MAE), located in Merrillville High School, 276 East 68th Place, helps to prepare individuals to complete the HiSET exam. MAE's free preparation classes are designed for students to go from their current knowledge to a point where passing the HiSET the first time is a reasonable goal. Instruction is available Mondays through Thursdays. Preparation classes are not required prior to taking the HiSET. The next test dates are July 26 and 27; registration deadline is Thursday. Other upcoming HiSET test dates include: Aug. 9 and 10, registration deadline Aug. 4; Aug. 23 and 24, registration deadline Aug. 18; Sept. 6 and 7, registration deadline Sept. 1; Oct. 4 and 5, registration deadline Sept. 29; Oct. 18 and 19, registration deadline Oct. 13; Nov. 1 and 2, registration deadline Oct. 27; Nov. 15 and 16, registration deadline Nov. 10; Nov. 29 and 30, registration deadline Nov. 22; Dec. 13 and 14, registration deadline Dec. 8. Blessing of Vehicles at Our Lady of Czestochowa Shrine
